We probably need to start tying our legislators' salaries

and pensions to how close they come to balancing the budget.

Maybe they get a little bonus if they balance the budget or get a surplus... maybe 105% of salary for that year.

Spend 10% more than they take in, they get 95% of their salary.

20% over they get 90%

30% they get 80% and so on.

I imagine that they will become more motivated to balance that budget.
