towns. Some counties have 30% of the population they had in 1900. Counties with less than 5,000 people and/or the county seat with less than 1,000 are common. Worth County has 2,057 people with only 859 in the county seat. Young kids move away and never come back. They can't even sustain schools. The average farmer is in his 60s and no one around to take over. I am sure it is even worse in western states.
