The guys who made first team All-SEC (tied) were also first team All Americans. There is more than one All American Team...someone was going to be slighted. Since this was the "Coach's All SEC Team" I guess it makes sense they would choose the All Americans they saw last season over the one that transferred in from the Big 12.
You can't blame them for Picking Berry...he did lead the nation in kickoff return average last year. If you just compare the numbers between him and Ross, Berry had over 800 yards on 21 returns with 3 tds, Ross had just under 650 yards on 30 returns and 0 tds. Ross is going to be an awesome weapon at that position, but I really don't think that it would be too much of a slight that Berry is first team All-SEC.
I would add that McKenzie was on the list as a Punt Returner...the actual question would be...why Christian Kirk was on the list tied with Berry. He was an All American...but at Safety. I guess because he is one of the few guys who did well at returning both punts and kickoffs. He would have led the nation in average yards per punt return (24.36), but he was .1 return per game below the qualifier.
Suffice to say...the SEC will be loaded with great return guys this year.
