To be better the coaches have to have their best years.
Also how does the team fit together. The less heralded players sound like they are more willing to follow the coaching that they are getting. If they do that and improve, then recruit higher ceiling players. That will then have upperclassmen as leaders.

But really nothing is given. They could be worse.
There has been a ton of talk about CVL being a great shooter, then he shot 27% from 3. In the podcast KA mentioned about how he was defended last year. Which led to a quicker release than he was used to. If things like that, hitting open shots created within the offense. Not hitting shots hurt the defense.
