Who here has bought something from a telemarketer?

I have a lot of friends that work in sports still and cold calling & warm calling is emphasized a lot.
A lot of managers make their employees call 50-100 people a day to try to sell tickets, sponsorship or suites.
When I was a manager, I thought that was the dumbest idea ever, because as an employee, it simply did not work and was not worth my time as I would maybe make a sale 1/1,000 times (yeah, I wasn't that good, I'll admit it, but I wasn't pushy).
So I never made my staff do that, instead we did other techniques.
But just curious... how many of you have received a phone call, and then bought something.
If you received a phone call from the Cardinals or Royals (or your fav. sport team) and they wanted to sell you on a 5 game package, would you buy it right then? Would you go online and research it? Would you hang up on them? What would you do?
