The college student suspected in a deadly cannibal attack is scheduled to have hand surgery sometime Wednesday, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say Harrouff attacked and killed John Stevens and his wife Michelle Mishcon at their home along Kokomo Lane near Tequesta Monday night.
The first responding deputies found Harrouff growling, grunting and making animal noises while biting the face of Stevens. They used stun guns to try to get him off but those failed. It took several deputies and a K-9 to pull Harrouff off the victim. Snyder said his deputies didn't shoot Harrouff out of concern of shooting the victim as well.
Before deputies arrived, neighbor Jeff Fisher stepped in to try and stop Harrouff, a graduate of Suncoast Community High School and student at Florida State University. Fisher's dad told CBS12 Harrouff stabbed the heroic neighbor at least five times. Fisher then called 911. He's in fair condition at St. Mary's Medical Center.
