Baseball is an expensive sport, and part of the low number of black athletes is because many black communities simply don't have the resources to promote the sport. That's a problem many feel is worth investing in fixing. There's no doubt also less interest in those communities with basketball being a much more popular sport. That's also something worth addressing, especially as the overall interest in baseball wanes. The disinterest wasn't always the case.

The lack of black baseball players is not a result of black athletes simply not being good enough. It's a result of black athletes choosing other sports.
