A majority of Star readers are KU/KStste/Big 12 fans

KU alums outnumber MU alums in the KC metro area 3-2. Add K-State alums, other Big 12 school fans & the ratio of non Mizzou to Mizzou fans becomes even higher.
Geographiclly, I suspect the area of regular star readership probably doesn't extend much beyond St. Joe to the North, Columbia to the East, but much farther to the West, etc.
Bottom line is the Star has a lot more readers interested in the Big 12 than the SEC and it allocates resources accordingly.
All print media is losing subscribers. What's happening to the Star is happening to every other newspaper in the country.
Bottom line, recognize the reality that by going to the SEC, Mizzou put less importance on the KC and western MO areas.
