MU didn't have anyone in place but interim's to have such a position even if it wasn't entirely ridiculous.
Not being in the Big 12 is one of the best things that has happened to MU, even with the absurdity of the past couple of years there is no way anyone could pull off a monumental blunder like voluntarily rejoining that mess.
