I also can empathize with the approach of focusing on the best athletic programs and letting the money work itself out.

As a fan, I don't care about the budget on Saturdays. I care about the team on the field. In that regard, Colorado State is a good fit. They'll compete well in the Big 12 and improve the conference's overall competitiveness. And even though they aren't a huge TV draw, they have dumped a lot of resources into the football program recently, and you could argue that they could become a much bigger draw than they currently are.
