Many of the best players here at Mizzou are ok with getting their ass chewed out from time to time. Many say it helped them become better players, and persons. Just listen to what so many ex players and current players say about him. About the admiration and support they have for him. Do all players feel that way? Of course not. To one player an ass chewing is motivational, most, I believe. A minority take it personally, and don't respond to it the same way. Because everyone is an individual.
And if you knew anything about EE as a person and professional, you would know that he is not a cartoon cut out character, but a real person. Read some of the thoughtful interviews he has given over the last few years. He talks more candidly about his coaching style and struggles with coaching young female athletes than anyone I know of in the game. He acknowledges his shortcomings and talks honestly about how he has evolved as a coach and mentor and how he needs to continue to do so. See how he says he has altered his coaching style in response to feedback from his players. How he has learned from them. See how he has specifically toned down some of the rougher edges, how he has accepted advice and consultation from a Mizzou sports psychologist to further his evolution as a coach. I think you will be surprised if you take that effort.
