I recall from the past. For example, DeMarre Carroll was said to be 6'5, maybe 6'6. Listed at 6'8.
Michael Beasley was listed at 6'10, measured in at 6'7 at the draft, and is now listed at 6'10 again.
Some players also wear taller shoes that others, believe it or not.
Height doesn't matter as much to me as wingspan, and the position you get on your opponent.
I'd say the player you're comparing Kemp to (Barnett) is probably 6'5, 6'6 at most, and Kemp is 6'7 or 6'8
