Great defense last year? More like average defense

That has now lost most of their starters.
Last year West Virginia ranked 61st in total defense, 44th in scoring defense, 102nd in red zone defense, and now most of that defense is gone.
They could actually be hurting on defense this year.
Their offense was better, ranking 35th in scoring, red zone offense 78th, 23rd in total. Of course, they also got to play kU, a game which they won 49-0. That helped all their rankings a lot on both sides of the ball.
Missouri returns the vast majority of its starters on a defense thank ranked 5th in scoring, 6th in total defense,50th in red zone defense, but we were putrid on offense in every conceivable way.
It will be a good matchup in Morgantown, but I doubt it will be because of West Virginis's stout defense.
