Just watched his video. Kid looks in excellent shape for being a freshmen who just came off surgery. Not sure about his lower body strength in light of the hip surgery, and leg strength is critical as Woods' lack of success demonstrated.
Would be interested to see a healthy Nikko go up against Woods, Smith, or Puryear. I doubt anyone on the roster can match his strength and size. Speed and skill can be developed over time (see Rosburg), so just having Reed in there defending, rebounding, blocking shots and fouling would be a huge contribution next season. One mark of success as the season progresses would be if Smith and Nikko could eventually end up benching Woods, or significantly curtailing his playing time.
***I'm basing this on Woods' play last year, so certainly have nothing against Woods playing if he's made huge strides in the off-season. All things being equal, would be best case scenario if Woods, as the team's senior, really steps up.
