At that point, Gant had already been committed here for four months and signed for one.

Not sure who we were recruiting at the time that could be a better fit. Perhaps it's related to Cam Biedscheid's transfer if there were concerns about tampering. Maybe Ahmed Hill (friends with Gant and discussed as a potential package).
