Hey, I just perused the NCAA's report of it's "thorough ku investigation", McMuffin. Very interesting reading. Here's the Cliff Notes version for you --
First, the answer to how/why 'Beaker players' "jump from 0.0 high school GPA to a 3.6 at ku" is that we grandfathered in the 'Ricky Clemons Rule' where they can all accumulate 24 credit hours in one semester of summer school. It works wonders! You should try it! Now, while that used to be considered by some to be spurious, it is at present, by acclimation, filed under 'Doing things the right way'.
The answer to "why Beaker players' families all tend to immediately get jobs in Lawrence from ku boosters" ended up being filed under the voluminous and ever-expanding 'Bulls**t Made Up By FIJI And Embraced/Swallowed By The Lemmings That Comprise His Idiot Fanbase' file. (This file, reportedly, has two dozen NCAA employees assigned full-time to tending it -- the largest such relegation of manpower in the organization's history.)
When apprised of each of these red flags, the NCAA responded by serving the coach of one of 'ku's former 'rivals' a five game suspension for non-compliance issues.
One thing the investigation was not able to answer was how a former player, upon admitting to a national publication that he was never able to pass his SAT test and had an imposter take it and pass it for him
http://donyaeger.com/troubling-questions/
was able to be a 'student-athlete' for FOUR YEARS at an institution, or how that institution's fanbase claims it NEVER 'cheats' and ALWAYS 'does things the right way'.
Hope that helps!
