happen. Because the NCAA is involved. Mizzou's failure was in thinking that since the NCAA approved a way for players to make some money, that doing so would keep us compliant. It was never going to. Whether it happened with Jakeenan or some other player down the line, it was always destined to happen. An NCAA approved anything that involves players pocketing money is basically just future free compliance work for the NCAA to be able to show it enforced something.
Schools that actually are interested in getting money in players' or recruits' hands in order to gain a competitive advantage know not to involve the NCAA at all. Just use bag men and boosters who operate totally outside any NCAA-approved this or that, and do it quietly, and the NCAA will never notice. But use an NCAA-approved internship and you'll probably wind up on probation eventually.
