to be able to recognize that he has excellent talent. Those on here who continue to bash him are clueless. Yes, the line was terrible. Yes, the backs struggled. Yes, the receivers dropped balls. But the thing that nobody talks about is preparation. Drew was never going to be the starter, and never got starter reps in practice until a month into the season. Hell, he wasn't even named the backup until late in camp, so he wasn't even getting full second team reps during camp.
Once it became clear that Mauk's issues were irreconcilable, I was in favor of starting Lock. Even though he was completely unprepared to start, he got a lot experience as the future of the program. We might have been a little better for last year had we gone with Printz, but it's hard to say and it was not the right long term decision.
