Last year, Wes Clark began the year as our primary ball handler. As the season went on, obviously Terrence took over that role. My memory from watching games was that in the times we were competitive, Phillips was willing us to stay in the game.
I don't write off what Wes Clark offered because he is/was a tough kid on the court. However, I don't think he consistently made the team (others) better. Phillips has a competitive drive that I enjoy watching. Geist is being described as a great competitor. I'm not sure I can say that about many of our players who left.
So I guess the reason I am giving for Missouri basketball winning 50% of its games is that the ball will be in the hands of players who hate to lose more so than in the past couple of years.
