"Ole Miss true freshman defensive end Charles Wiley has been suspended from team activities after getting arrested on a domestic violence charge. According to the Clarion-Ledger, Wiley was booked into Lafayette County Jail on Monday night and the school acknowledged his arrest on Tuesday.
"We are aware of the situation and recognize the proper authorities are responsible for the matter," coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement. "Charles is being withheld from all team activities while the process moves forward. We take incidents like this very seriously and will make decisions once the course of action is complete.""
I think the SEC is finally coming to understand that there can't be a wait and see attitude, which allows for the entire process to play out without doing something. While you don't want to penalize someone falsely accused, neither can you sit by idly until a jury very comes back with a conviction.
I think the schools need to start being more proactive in communicating the reality of differing expectations in relationships up front. Just because she's saying yeah to dinner or a movie or drinks doesn't mean she's all in for everything, and you better understand how to find out what her expectations in advance, or, as the saying goes, "buyer beware".
