For one thing, there's too many damn varieties these days, too many to keep track of. Secondly, quality just seems to not be there. For every great apple I have, I probably take a single bite and trash 10 others.

Oranges are totally different. Seem like they are way better than they used to be...i.e. you almost never find bad oranges, unless you're buying this time of year.
