I 'heard' that we didn't get out recruited so much for Marquis Hayes as some would tend to think. It was more about zero U's history of playing for championships, and facilities.
That said seems like we'll go ahead with the expansion and renovation of existing facilities rather than start over with the south end zone project, correct ? Or do we know yet.
On one hand, I get it that we like to keep all sports & athletes in the same area, since it does tend to help build the 'family atmosphere' we're pretty much known for. On the other hand guys have to walk across the bridge on Providence to get to the stadium. My brother in law who played for zero U back in the mid '80's thought that was crazy and hurts us in recruiting. Sounds like a little bit of a trade off to me. Keeping all athletes together, for the family atmosphere and not isolating them as some places do but on the other it may in fact handy cap us a little.
Bottom line for me is that we have to get this project off the ground, one way or the other and get a WOW factor going in terms of facilities, and soon. There'll be other Marquise Hayes types in state in the near future. We gotta get 'em.
Thoughts ?
