MSA Crime Rate than STL based on all FBI Crime Stats, which include violent crime.
KC not only has a smaller MSA but a much larger crime rate that is a whole lot more widespread throughout their Metro Area.
The City of St. Louis has a higher Murder Rate but only the City, not the rest of the larger STL Metro area. STL's is almost wholly confined to one area in the City of STL, while KC's crime is a lot more spread out.
In MSA Crime Rate rankings, STL is in the 90s (approx #96), while KC is approx #52.
STL gets a skewed, misrepresented bad rap when rankings only use City of STL stats, which is anomaly, due to the City of STL being only one of two cities that are not in a county.
When you include just the STL County with the City of STL to create a truer, accurate & comparable Metro area in size to Jackson County (Jackson County still being smaller), which does not even include all the other Counties that make up the entirety of the STL Metro Area, KC's Crime Rafe is significantly higher!
