Saw Ghostbusters 2016 last night...

Here's my extremely brief review:
Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy weren't funny. They just weren't. Which is surprising because I thought they both were excellent in "Bridesmaids" (a guilty pleasure).
Kate McKinnon was just weird, borderline retarded. I don't get her shtick. She didn't come off like a mechanical genius which is what her character is.
Completely unfunny wasted appearances by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver. I was amazed at how they neutered Bill Murray's brief role. Bill Murray can turn anything funny, but he didn't turn on the magic in this movie.
The antagonist...where do I begin? He's just a weird evil genius who creates devices that enhance paranormal activity. He places those devices all over Manhattan. His goal - to bring upon the apocalypse. Why? Because he was bullied in high school. WTF?
Now the good:
Leslie Jones. Yeah, I'm surprised too! She wasn't NEARLY as bad as people thought she would be. She didn't spend the entire time playing the stereotypical mad black woman character. She was actually pretty funny the entire time she was on screen, which was desperately needed because Wiig and McCarthy were so dull. I legit laughed at her scenes several times.
Chris Hemsworth stole the show! I never pegged him as a comedy actor, but he was easily the funniest character in the movie. Sure, he plays an idiot but at least he was funny. If Hemsworth wouldn't have been in this movie, the funniest character would have been Leslie Jones' character. Think about that for a moment.
The special effects were pretty damn good! FAR better than the original movie(s). I heard a rumor the special effect were awful. Not true. They hold up.
Overall I give the movie a C- because if any movie in the modern era suffers from missed opportunities it's this movie. Ghostbusters 2016 is an entertaining movie. But, it's also a movie where an average audience member who is familiar with the original Ghostbusters movies will spend the entire movie contemplating how the director could have done it better.
