Missed mizzou because I was barfing my guts out. Today I missed the Iowa session.
But let me tell you why.
Son works graveyard shift at a trucking firm. He calls at 2:30 this morrning-car died. No battery no electrical. Swell. I get to him at about 3, jump the battery, sure as hell the electrical lights flash all over the place after I take the cables off. Car eventually dies. 3:30 I call my insurer for a tow. They aren't really sure about KC streets but we finally agree where I am. "We'll text you when we get a tow company lined up". 15 minutes later I get a text-earliest they can get there is 5:45. Well we need to leave my house by 6:45 to get to Iowa City on time so its tight but doable. Sent my kid home with our other car, I'll wait with the deadster.
5:45- no tow truck. Call roadside assistance-they'll be right there.
Roadside assistance calls me at 6. Hell no they're not here and I have to be on the road at 6:30. No problem, tow is 5-10 minutes away.
6:20 - no tow. I call roadside assistance. "Tow will be there in 15 minutes". Really? Last time it was 5-10 minutes. And there's still no traffic. Reamed out the phone rep. Hung up.
6:45-no truck. Told my wife and son to leave, there's construction on I-80 you have no idea what that's going to do to your arrival and it starts at noon.
They leave. I'm in a really good mood now.
7 AM I get a text. Has the truck arrived? (Y) (N). **** N it hasn't.
10 minutes later I get another text. Someone will contact me soon.
7:35-i get a call from the tow guy. He's looking for a non existent address. No loser, I'm HERE.
Tow truck arrives at 7:45. Driver apologizes weakly. I said nothing to him. And apparently he either has pneumonia or tuberculosis the way he's coughing. Great-i share a ride with him.
Arrive at repair garage @8.
I'd better not get any short stories from them
