Expounding a little on my meaning... and a clarification of

Good grief, the mental gymnastics...evidence of pedo behavior, if released (with no potential criminal liability on the line, of course), would ENHANCE your view of his character? Dude...you might have your head so far up his ass that you're too far gone.

This is a HUGE deal. If the crime(s) were past the statute of limitations he might be willing to release the files anyway. It would obviously cripple him and his agenda for what is left of his term and would expose him to more huge lawsuits, and would largely destroy his legacy, but it would be best for the country and the world and from my point of view would actually enhance my estimation of his character. He would clearly be putting the interests of the country above his own. I would guess that it would take a near miracle for this sort of result, however.
Perhaps I should have been more clear. I was not intending to say that if Trump was indeed "having sex with minors" or committing "other very serious criminal matters or other things so embarrassing that would give blackmailers significant leverage over his political decisions for the country" but had the selflessness and courage to release the files and expose himself to lawsuits and all of the other adverse ramifications that he would undoubtedly suffer because of that, all for the good of the country rather than acting in only his own perceived personal best interest that I would have a higher opinion of him than if he had done none of those crimes.
Instead, I was saying, or at least trying to say, that I would have had a higher opinion of him because he had opened up the files to the public anyway, assuming that he was doing so for the good of the country and doing so despite the obvious personal costs to him, his reputation and his legacy. Rather than having my "head so far up his ass that [I'm] too far gone", I think that indicates that my current opinion of his character is more negative. To wit, I don't think that he is humble, selfless and courageous enough to put the country before his own personal interests in such a situation.

A clarification of terms, a minor point here, but still worth noting, I think:
Pedophilia is actually defined as sexual acts with a child who has not yet reached puberty. Hebephilia and ephebophilia are terms used for those prefering sex with post-pubescent children past puberty.

Of course at this point we are all speculating as to what evidence against Trump may be in those files. The range of possibilities is quite "huge", as Trump might be wont to say.
If he was engaged in sexual activity with consenting adult women, it would be largely a non-issue, at least relative to the other possibilities.
At the far other end of the spectrum would be participating in or enabling/encouraging the rape of very young children... or in blackmail of others.
More likely, is probably something in the middle, such as sexual acts with consenting 16 or 17 yr olds. But even there, a range of possibilities exist. IF that happened how consenting were they? Were they the ones being solicitous of sex? Were they tricked into getting drunk or drugged, or felt that they were pressured in situations where they felt it was difficult if not impossible to refuse? Would Trump or others have known how old they were, or should they have known they were underage at the time? Did they lie to him about their age(s)? What kind of sexual activity was it? Did they come sit on his lap & then give him a lap dance that he hadn't asked for? etc. etc.
An adult having sex with a 16 or 17 year old girl would be called ephebophilia.
