games where we got hot shooting and the other team was cold. We also collapsed in games and lost after halftime. Sometimes we lost the games in the last 10 minutes. We were clearly overmatched on starting talent and we had a shallow bench. We apparently whiffed in last years portal and did not get the players we hoped for. Only a few of our returning players improved enough to thrive where they had to be more than role players. Most of our starters this year would be bench players on good teams.

All of THAT is why we need to go spend big money and get 3 portal players that are ready to be our top 3 players. Anyone coming back should not be our top 3 players. Our portal recruits need to be better than Bates. No incoming freshmen should be one of our top 3 players. If we do not essentially spend money to turn over our roster, we will have to spend much more firring Gates at the end of the next season.
