It's tantamount to the old trope of remarking on "how articulate" a black person is. The soft bigotry of lowered expectations. The fact is, Juwan Howard is NOT among the best coaches in the game, and Gates has one season under his belt (with an NBA first-rounder he inherited). It's way too early talk about "best in the game", in fact it's ridiculous.
