But you're right, the fact it hasn't happened before is probably on our side. The specific SEC bylaw about this says:
"Membership may be terminated voluntarily by the resignation of a member or involuntarily
at a meeting of the Chief Executive Officers. A vote of at least two-thirds of the members is required to terminate membership.
Any motion to terminate membership shall specify the effective date of the proposed termination"
I'm not arguing MU will be kicked out, but it's not impossible. I think pretty much anything is possible now, including the SEC ceasing to exist. I think we're going towards two 20-team conferences in a National College Football League, split into 8 regional divisions, something like that. The Big 10 and SEC eventually merging and realigning.
I think we can make the cut for top 40, but we could also miss that cut. Depends what timeframe you measure.
