The Selection Committee doesn’t care about conference records. What they do care about is very well known and established.

1. NET
2. SOS
3. Non conference SOS
4. Top 25 NET wins
5. Top 50 NET wins
6. How you are playing at the end of the year

It matters who you play, and what signature wins you have, and what bad losses you have. Wins over the likes of Columbia, Lehigh, Murray St, Morgan St, SLU, Idaho St, Alabama AM, Southern etc mean squat to the selection committee when awarding at large bids and seeding teams.

And we have an audience of one in the selection committee. You don’t give them the right metrics, you don’t get a bid, or a decent seed.

That’s reality.

If we do go 8-8 in the SEC, and that’s not a lock at all to happen, it matters who the wins are against. If they are all against second division teams, thats not going to impress the selection committee very much.
