Could be wrong, but this may be the toughest test so far in a fairly lackluster early schedule.
Last time we saw Troy, the SunBelt champs were taking #2 seed and #4 national ranked TAMU down to the wire in the first round of the 2021 NCAA tournament in what was almost one of the biggest upsets in tournament history.
They lost their star player and conference POY, but return 4 other starters from the team that nearly beat TAMU, and added a bunch of transfers, including the POY from the Southland conference at Sam Houston St who is leading them this year with 17.3 ppg. They don’t have a lot of height but do have a 6-1 forward who was the newcomer of the year last year in the SunBelt, who averages 12 ppg and 13 rebound/game.
They don’t shy away from anyone, this year they play on the road against 4 P5 teams: Missouri, Duke, Wake Forest, and Miss St.
They are 3-1 on the year so far. Could be a tough game for us.
