Normally if your soccer coach retired at the end of the season, that would be in November and you could hire a new coach in December or January and have them in place for practices and exhibition games in the spring. Since the 20/21 soccer season was bumped to the spring, Mizzou wasn't able to hire her until May. There were no spring practices and she has actually only had about two weeks of practice them in the fall. Imagine how Eli Drinkwitz's first year would have gone if he wasn't hired until April, had no spring (or extra fall practice like the NCAA allowed last year), and essentially only had two weeks of practice time.
That being said, they have been really bad the first two games. The schedule is really brutal and we really need to find a way to turn things around against Indiana State on Thursday before we face Miami and Notre Dame.
Golan signed a 5 year/$175,000 contract. You are crazy if you think Mizzou is paying what would basically be an $875,000 buyout for a program that isn't even charging admission this year. Not going to happen.
