Last season Brown was mostly a 4th option offensively, and not someone opponents would likely ever gameplan for. His points came off rotations, garbage buckets, and breakdowns from defenders focusing elsewhere. He was actually very good in this role, and is probably more versatile than at least I expected.
I would liken his game to Kelly Thames post-injury. Thames struggled in the role of go to scorer because he was robbed of his athleticism, and defensive length really gave him problems around the rim (Thames did become a very technically complete back to the basket scorer). Similarly Kobe gets his shot blocked an inordinate amount of times (if we didn't recently have Pickett and Puryear there is a good chance he would be more well renowned for his propensity to get stuffed), however he does a good job of clearing space with his lower body and can certainly score through contact.
Kobe will most likely be thrust into a different role next season. Particularly with our lack of proven rebounding and post presence he may find himself not outside the 3pt line nearly as much. He also may pick up considerably more fouls without Tilmon/Mitchell to protect him defensively.
