there is a history of no, to little, player development in a program that falls on the coach and the culture they have created.
I think a huge factor in the lack of development by Tilmon falls on CM's inability to bring any talent into the program since his freshman year. Players have to be pushed to improve by those in the program below them. I suspect that Tilmon completely dominated on the practice floor his final three years.
There are three motivations to improve as a player.
1 Being pushed by a coach
2 Pushing yourself
3 Being pushed by other players
Seeing the final product after four years I suspect none of these were present for Tilmon.
