average so far. We'll see if the "roster rest" can start to change that. I'm not counting on it, but I am interested to find out.
Three possible outcomes, in my mind:
1. The new guys are good and everything clicks and we're as good or better than last year. This would prove (to me) that CM is a good coach who recruited poorly in the past, and that the talent on last year's roster was insufficient. CM gets a contract extension.
2. We are mediocre, indicating that the transfers are not difference-makers, and the freshmen are projects that need time to develop into SEC-caliber players. CM's contract stays the same, and we tread water for one year, hoping that the next season will be a breakthrough.
3. We are terrible. The pieces don't fit, the transfers aren't able to compete at the SEC level, and we have a losing record. Maybe not as bad as the KA years, but certainly under .500. CM finds himself squarely on the hot seat in the off season.
Regardless of how it goes, it's going to be interesting to follow for me - so many unknowns, and I'm excited to see the new guys. I'm certainly hopeful for #1, but I wouldn't be surprised by any of the three.
