and i'm pretty sure you're making **** up, but i'll play along.
the average rebuild starts with a relatively bare cupboard in terms of talent and production, and requires a new coach to establish new recruiting relationships and eventually build up a program based on players he recruited becoming upperclassmen and productive contributors. there's your 3-4 years.
Martin stepped onto the court on day 1 with a roster that included 2 future NBA players in the Porters (the #1 and #25 ranked prospects in the nation), the #45 prospect (Tilmon), the # 108 prospect (Roberts), the #136 prospect (Harris), and highly rated transfer Cassius Robertson who would go on to play pro overseas.
rebuild complete.
didn't need 3-4 years.
KA's legacy had been erased and the Cuonzo Martin era had begun. his rebuild was ready-made and handed to him. all he had to do was not wreck it.
4 years and 0 tourney wins later, here we sit, hoping to rebuild the rebuild that occured after he was handed the already rebuilt roster.
