of the Archdiocesan organization. It was the replacement for the very first Archdiocesan high school, Kenrick High School, which was located on what is now the empty lot catty corner to Sts. Peter and Paul in Soulard.
Kenrick was the first high school staffed by Marianists in St. Louis until they built their own facilities, Chaminade and Maryhurst Seminary. Vianney was built on the grounds of Maryhurst before it closed. Vianney was the replacement for Coyle high school.
Besides McBride, Chaminade, Maryhurst, and Vianney, the Marianists also staffed Assumption in ESL, Cathedral of Belleville, De Andries, and St. Mary’s.
I guess I neglected to include McBride because I always considered it be more centrally located and I was focused on the northside. Former Mizzou Tigers Gus Otto, Jack Weinart, and Jim Juras were former Micks.
I didn’t include Augustinian because it was in south St. Louis at the former home of Maryville College. That building was beautiful, but they had no gym, so they played their basketball games in St. Mary Magdalen gym near Kingshighway and Chippewa.
