Took a couple of postcards for him to autograph--he signed the back side and then I asked him to flip them over to look at the pic. 4x6 postcard of Faurot. He took one glance at it "Oh, that's the Texas game." How did you recognize it so fast? "It's the same picture I have on my office wall."
I'd shot the photo from a MSHP helicopter as it was the first maximum capacity crowd ever since the horseshoe had been turned into a bowl with the south endzone addition the previous year. Major Mick Deaver arranged the flight for the photos then and then again the following year duting the Ohio State game.
I was supposed to take pics of the firelanes and parking lots so they could determine if buildings like Central Food Stores were at risk of having blocked firelanes and to see if there were any other places to squeeze in cars for parking.
But Deaver said to make sure I got some good shots of the stadium, too.
The Athletic Department used those images for quite a few years.
