There's no excuse for that player's actions (and he ended his football/wrestling careers with that stunt) - but I'd bet there was a lot of **** going on back and forth during the game. He received a roughing the qb and unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the play, before attacking the ref (unusual to have 2 personal fouls)
