SEC teams went 8-0 in season openers on Wednesday, all against pretty easy opponents.
Ranked teams SC, Arky, Kentucky, and TAMU won easily, and Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Auburn barely broke a sweat. Vandy and Ole Miss had their games cancelled due to COVID.
Going to get tougher this weekend with some interesting games Friday-Sunday, including:
LSU-BYU
LSU-West Virginia
Arky-FGCU
Arky-Maryland
SC-South Dakota
SC-Gonzaga
TAMU-DePaul
Florida-Florida St
Missouri-SLU
Gonzaga, Maryland and DePaul are top 25 teams. South Dakota and FSU are barely outside the top 25, at #27 and #28 in both polls. And FGCU and BYU are receiving votes in one or both polls.
By Monday we will have some better info as to how the SEC stacks up as a conference. Need the conference as a whole to be tough at the top (no problem there) and for the rest of the teams to be improved, so our conference wins will mean more for our tournament resume in the spring.
