Bill Callahan
I just found this story out.
When he took over the Raiders as head coach from Jon Gruden, he ran the same offense (since he was Gruden's coordinator) and he didn't change any playbook language they used either.
Of course, he ended up playing Gruden's Buccs in the Super Bowl.
Gruden prepared Tampa Bay for exactly what was coming, even going so far as to play the part of Raider QB John Gannon on the scout team during the Thursday practice before the Super Bowl. Barking out the plays at the line of scrimmage, because he knew them from Oakland.
During the Super Bowl, every time Gannon tried to check out of a play, Lynch, Sapp and the Tampa defense knew exactly what was coming.
The players on Tampa had never seen anything like it. It was the exact same formation, and same motions and language that was run in practice.
To add insult to injury, Callahan had originally prepared a game plan for a heavy ground game, but ditched it the Friday before the game.
Resulted in 5 interceptions and one of the most lopsided arse kickings we've seen in NFL history.
And one that sent the Raiders into a tailspin they've spent 17 seasons trying to get out of.
