... and while YPC were maybe down, that was likely due to losing a QB that could pass more efficiently in Franklin and instead having Mauk.
It necessitated we run the ball more and play smash mouth, downhill football.
I don't think they minded if YPC were down, because TOP was up. We controlled the ball and we grinded other team's defenses. We could also rely on incredibly special teams and a phenomenal defense led by a great line up front. And Mauk was wild, but he could run a little and complete just enough long bombs that it still kept defenses spread and weary of the deep pass.
