is meeting today to vote and decide (at this point) on a fall volleyball tournament. I guess that could cover just about anything, from whether they will have one to what it looks like. Over 25% of NCAA D1 teams have already announced they are not playing at all this fall. If there is a season of some type, and a tournament in December, I seriously doubt we will see 16 regionals with 4 teams each. If it is still a 64 team field (which is not a given, let’s see what they say later today), I would think they would put 16 teams at just 4 sites and build a bubble around them like the NBA and NHL, to reduce travel and try and institute appropriate health controls to the greatest degree possible.

I also read the ACC is going with a minimum of 10 conference matches with three 5 team pods based solely on geography, with nothing done for competitive balance. You play two teams in your pod 3 times and the other two teams 2 times. So most of their best teams are loaded into one pod: Pitt, Louisville, Notre Dame, Syracuse, BC.

I’ll be real interested to see what the NCAA says about the tournament today, and what the SEC says about non conference play.

If there is a tournament, seeding is going to be a real crap shoot.

It’s a shame this cluster f is happening to this senior class. I’m not a fan of pushing off any fall sports to the spring of 2021, but you have to wonder what the players, especially the loaded senior class at Mizzou, are thinking at this point.
