I'm not from Jeff City, but I did find this on the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame website about Pete Adkins, the former coach for the Jeff City Jays. It must have been written when he was still coaching:

Pete Adkins is the most successful high school football coach this nation has ever seen. His winning percentage is the best in the country for coaches with 100 or more games and he is the third winningest coach in football history, at any level.

Adkins’ overall record is 405-60-4. He began his coaching career at Centralia High School, where he went 51-12-2 in seven seasons (1951 – 57). For the Jays at Jefferson City High School, he has compiled a 341-48-2 record in 36 seasons (1958-93). When Adkins started his career at Jefferson City, his teams went 76-1-2 in his first 79 games. They did not lose a road game in his first decade with Jefferson City and his teams have never lost a Homecoming game.

The Jays have had 14 perfect seasons under Adkins and 20 unbeaten regular seasons. Akdins has had only one losing season in his career. He has won eight state championships, the most won in Missouri. The eight titles are the most in the nation in the big-school classification for the various states. His Jays have won three of the last four and four of the last six state championships. The Jays have been to the state semifinals, or beyond, eight straight years. The Jays are 71-2 in the regular season since 1986 and have won 24 straight in the regular season.
