I look at the all time team stats, and all conference and All American honors.
The best setter in Missouri history is Lindsey Hunter. She is #1 in assists in program history, Kreklow is #2, about 700 assists behind.
Both players were 1st team AAs their senior years. That’s a wash. But Kreklow never even made AA honorable mention her first 3 years here, and there are like 50 players to get honorable mention after the first 3 teams. Hunter was a 2nd team AA her junior year.
Yes, Kreklow was POY in the SEC her senior year. That’s all she has over Hunter. Hunter owns all the other metrics.
Comparing Kreklow to Henning is even a stronger case. They were even in the same class of 2010-2013. They both played 2 years in the Big 12 and 2 years in the SEC.
Kreklow was first team all conference exactly 1 time in her career, her senior year. Henning was first team all conference 3 times, each time a unanimous pick.
Kreklow as mentioned was first team AA her senior season and never even made honorable mention AA her other 3 years. Henning was a 3 time AA. The real team, not honorable mention. She was 3rd team AA her sophomore and junior seasons and 1st team AA her senior season. No stats to compare as they played different positions. But Henning is #1 all time at Mizzou in kills and points.
Don’t get me wrong, Kreklow was a great player, and had a great senior year where she made 1st team AA after never even being an honorable mention in her career before then. And she has that conference POY award. I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve to be #29 on Matters list. I’m saying if she is #29, then at least Hunter and Henning need to be on the team too, ahead of Kreklow. Because by the metrics and awards they were clearly better than her.
