Do you think that if they did, it would be as fast, as efficient and coordinated as what we are seeing today.

And i can't believe i'm suggesting that the government would do something better than private industry. The difference of course is that the government apparatus is already up, running, funded and functioning. A private even well coordinated effort by independent business would take a long time to get going, assign responsibilities, get funding, and communicate with the public.
