I have already typed up a letter to the coach, and his AD and principal. Should I hit SEND?
Went to my kid's JV basketball game on Friday. Don't know why, but there was no scorekeeper/clock persons. Someone there recruited my h.s. daughter and another girl to do the book and the clock. My daughter was experienced at it, the other girl was a rookie.
Four minutes remaining in game, scoreboard says 66-60 in our favor. I don't know who brought it to opposing team's coach's attention, but he now believes it should be 64-62. Game halted, 10-min delay, doing whatever they all do. The official scorebook, the opposing team's scorebook, and the clock - all three had different scores. Issue went unresolved, and play resumed at 66-60
Coach yells at the kids at the scorers table several times, during and after the delay. I would have thought my kid was overreacting maybe, except for the assistant coach apologized almost immediately to the kids for the head coach's abuse, and after the game, three of the players on his team individually apologized also.
The kids may have made a mistake. No way to really tell without re-watching the game. Even if mistake, certainly not intentional, and it's just another part of the game, like a phantom jump ball or missed foul or whatever. Difference, to me, is coach can yell at paid adult referee, should not be yelling at kid volunteer. Coach's behavior very unprofessional, IMO.
Should I send my letter ratting coach out for being a hotheaded dick?
