Now we need to sweep the last 3 games just to avoid coming out of the weekend 3-3 (or worse). Softball is a strange game, can’t take hardly anything for granted, and the first 3 weeks have been crazy with upsets and close calls for top 25 teams. Nearly everyone has a baffling, bad game, and I hope that is ours for the season. Got it out of the way.

Today we get New Mexico and Cal, and tomorrow Seattle. We could go 3-0, or 1-2. I don’t see us losing to NM. They are 6-5, best win is over an unranked Stanford team, and yesterday got pounded by Arizona St 15-0. If we can’t beat them then maybe yesterday wasn’t just a one time anomaly.

Cal is 8-4, best win was yesterday, I guess, 8-1 over Auburn, lost to a bad Penn St team earlier. Don’t have a good read on Auburn, even though they are (for now) hanging around just outside the top 25.

Seattle on Sunday is just 4-8, and has an awful loss to Kansas 8-0. But they have been competitive against good teams, losing to NW 1-0, to Arizona 4-3, and yesterday totally shut down UC Davis 3-0. Yeah, the same team that exploded for 11 runs in 2 innings over us. So they could beat us too if we don’t play our best game.
