Signing isn't required. All it does is guarantee a scholarship. A player can still commit well after the signing period if they want to.

Sometimes the guys who don't sign are mediocre players who are available for a reason (see: Christian Guess). Other times, they're talented players who just take longer to decide (Linas Kleiza).
