1. Defend the rim.
2. Be capable of finishing plays that your other guys make when they drive.
3. Rebound.
4. Generally, be decent enough such that your general relative lack of athletic ability (simply by being 6-10 playing with smaller, quicker guys) isn't too noticeable.
Given the relative lack of guys that are extremely tall, I don't really see the need for a 6-10 type in college any more. Just give me a big strong 6'8 guy like a Kobe Brown to play center and another 6-7 to 6-8 guy that can shoot from the outside and you should be good. And then give me a guy off the bench that is the typical center and can fill in for a few minutes at times (like a Reid Nikko).
I'm not sure you need much more than that these days.
